Title Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAGALA)
SCOPE OF WORK

Montana VA Health Care System is requesting a contract of an indoor horse arena with the use of three to six horses for the purpose of MTVAHCS employees to provide patient centered mental health care in the form of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to MTVAHCS Veterans receiving Behavioral Health Services.

This contract will provide space and horses that will be used to provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to Veterans. This will be staffed within the current FTEE in Behavioral Health Services. This program will need the contracted space for 3 to five, eight to ten hour days per week to conduct group or individual therapy. The contracted space will be staffed by MTVAHCS staff in order to provide high quality care by specially trained mental health care providers and certified equine specialists, this will also assure meeting performance measures/standards. The psychotherapy that will be provided is a billable service.

General Conditions for the Space:
An indoor arena free of hazardous conditions such as loose wires, loose boards, protruding materials that could cause an impaling danger, etc.
Sand floor in the arena with dust kept to a minimum.
Adequate lighting in the barn area.
Barn heat able to maintain temperature of arena at a minimum of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
Office space with electrical outlets, work surface to accommodate at least two people and laptop computers, heat to a minimum of sixty-five degrees and adequate work environment lighting.
Adequate parking spaces for a minimum of 15 vehicles.
Lockable storage space for equipment used in therapy sessions.
Metal panels that could be used to section off parts of the arena.
A gate at the entrance of the facility.
Located within one mile of a paved, maintained road.
Located within 5 miles of the Helena city limits.
Minimum size of 80 feet by 120 feet.
Facility closed to the general public during days/hours of contracted use.
The contract holder will be responsible for the set-up of the facility by 7 am on the days of use and will be responsible for the take down of all equipment related to the space at the end of each lease day.
