Fall Protection and Timber Repair Replacement on Bridge - Miles City, Montana (Custer County)





**NOTICE 29 NOV 2022 TO POST QUESTION AND ANSWER



Question: Shall the replacement 3”x12” Douglas Fir timber decking be pressure treated?



Answer: Yes, all replacement timber decking materials shall match existing and be pressure treated.

Contractors must be registered to attend the site visit. If Contractors are not registered they will not be permitted on the site visit.



The site visit registration deadline is 15 November 2022.





DESCRIPTION OF WORK:



Perform identified repairs to the railroad bridge timber decking and fall protection at the Fort Keogh Livestock and Range Research Laboratory site.





The work required for this project consists of the demolition of the existing fall protection system and the installation of a new system. The new system shall consist of 3/8” steel cable, 3x3x3/16 steel angles, connection plates and bolts and the replacement of damaged support beams with new Douglas Fir beams, 3x12. The work also requires the furnishing and installation of four warning signs to be placed on the ends of the bridge (two each end). The signage shall state the following “DANGER -No Pedestrian or Foot Traffic Allowed on the Bridge”.





PROJECT LOCATION: USDA, ARS, Fort Keogh Livestock and Range Research Laboratory, Miles City, Montana





CONTRACT PERFORMANCE PERIOD: The period of performance of this contract is 90 calendar days from Notice to Proceed.





Price Range is between $100,000 and $250,000.





This solicitation is a total small business set aside.





Offerors must be registered in System for Award Management (SAM). For those who fail to meet these requirements will not be considered for award.





All questions pertaining to this solicitation must contain reference to the solicitation number and must be submitted, in writing via e-mail to both mark.mcwilliams@usda.gov and toinette.aranda@usda.gov



No later than 21 November 2022 @ 12:00pm Mountain.





Availability of Funds



Funds are not presently available for this contract. The Government’s obligation under this contract is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds from which payment for contract purposes can be made. No legal liability on the part of the Government for any payment may arise until funds are made available to the Contracting Officer for this contract and until the Contractor receives notice of such availability, to be confirmed in writing by the Contracting Officer.





This notice does not obligate the Government to award a contract nor does it obligate the Government to pay for quote/proposal preparation costs.
