This is a non-personal services contract to provide an cultural resource services on lands currently owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Fort Peck Project in Montana. The Government shall not exercise any supervision or control over the contract service providers performing the series herein. Such contract service provider shall be accountable solely to the contractor who, in turn is responsible to the Government.



The purpose of this work is to meet the Department of the Army's federal preservation legislation and associated implementing regulations. The most pertinent for this investigation is Public Law 89-665, National Historic Preservation Act as codified in 54 USC 300101. et seq., implementing regulations 36 CFR Parts 60 ad 61 Appendix A; and 36 CFR Part 800. Army Regulation 200-1 Chapter 6, Engieering Regulation 1130-2-540 Chapter 6, and Engineering Pamphlet 1130-2-540 Chapter 6. Persons woking under this contract are considered to be carrying out official agency duties under federal direction, associated with the management of archaelogical resources, and therefore are exempt from obtaining an Antiquities Permit per Section 5(c) of 32 CFR Part 229- Protection of Archaelogical Resources Uniform Regulations.



The contractor will conduct and document Class III archaeological and tribal cultural property survey near Fort Peck, Montana. After award of the contract, USACE will provide the contractor shapefiles that identify the inventory area shown in Technical Exhibit 1. Following completion of the inventory, the contractor will produce a report of the inventory as well as site (CS-R) forms and geospatial data for all encountered archaeological sites. The Base and all awarded options should be included in the same report. To the extent possible within the scope of this work, all sites shall be fully evaluated for National Register eligibility and recommendations of eligibility will be included in the report. If full evaluation requires research or recordation efforts beyond the scope of this work, the report should note what additional work is necessary to address the specific data need that to evaluate the site.
